DescriptionDear customers,I am happy to offer directly from my private collection the personal watch of Prince Ludwig von Baden by J.Assmann,Glashutte.  The watch has been awarded to hem personally by the German Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm II,together with the highest German military Order Pour Le Merite,also known as the Blue Max in 1895. On the watch rear case is applied the miniature of the Order Pour Le Merite. The watch is A1 Grade OBSERVATORY APPROVED CHRONOMETER,made by one of the most famous German watch master-Julius Assmann(Assman was one of the founders of the Glasshutte school of watchmaking together with A.Lange)   The watch is oversize-61mm without the crown! Really impressive-170g heavy!!!   High grade lever chronometer movement,fully jewelled precision Swan neck micrometric regulator,Chaton ruby endstone on balance,big compensating bymetalic balance wheel with gold weights,Breguet spiral,single banking pin. Signed and numbered.
Fine porcelain dial with a extra large seconds counter!

Julius Assmann was a  watch manufacturer. Julius Assmann as one of the pioneers of the watch industry is closely linked with the  watches history. He was was born in Stettin on 2 October and there he learned the craft of watchmaking. He gained further knowledge at Berlin chronometer makers before he worked from  at  in whose company , on the advice of Lange he opened a watch  in , the  J. Assmann/Glashütte i.SA, Deutsche Anker-Uhren-Fabrik. Assmann in  he married the sister of the Dresden master watchmaker , Emilie Auguste Schneider. From this marriage comes his son Paul. After the death of his first wife, in  he married the daughter Marie of  and so became his son in law. Julius Assmann contributed to the establishment of the  in Glashütte and in  was elected its chairman. He died a year later, on August 15, . In honor of the merits of Assmann and as a demonstration of their own excellence  launched the Assmann Edition, a series of limited and expensive luxury models, coveted among watch collectors.
