On the back of an oval-shaped Medailllion that shows a pair of musizierendes. The scene is framed by a Crown with floral garlands. The four-colour gold decorative completes on the edge with a scalloped edge. With floor Bell. The trigger for the repeater is located beyond the counterpart, mute places of the repeater at 7 o'clock, large outside hinge. Enamel dial, radial Roman numerals; Hours, Arabic minutes, stone-studded White Gold Louis-XVI hands. Movement: full plate movement, key lift, fire gilded, signed, chain/screw, 2 hammers, massive round pillar of work, three-arm brass balance wheel, very fine, floral engraved and embossed crafted balance bridge. Diameter 40mm. Weight 60 g. Works no. 6099, circa 1760 65. Jean Antoine Lépine was born in 1720 in Challex. After his training as the watchmaker, 1744 he went to Paris and worked in the workshop of André Charles Caron. Around 1750, Lépine developed the comma escapement. in 1762, he successfully completed his master exam and was appointed to the Royal Court clockmakers 1766 still under Louis XV.. He retained this title also under Louis XVI and under Napoleon. 1770 Lépine invented the Lépine calibre named after him: until then, the movements were equipped with full plate but Lépine with its construction unprecedented until then never revolutionized the pocket watch movement: the bridge way. Abraham Louis Breguet worked (learned) with Lépine when he came to Paris before he founded his own company. In the Breguet factory books cooperation has been documented since he bought raw works of Lépine.
