Described to me by a professional antique watch seller, as a typical18th century 18k gold pocket watch..  Typical meaning there are no special features built into the mechanism.  Although typical, the watch is in fine condition.  It was made in Strasbourg by J.D. Bahn, as marked on the watch works and numbered 466; marked on the enamel face by the maker as  'a Paris'  which likely indicates the maker had a retail shop in the city.  The reference work 'Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World' by C.H. Baillie references Bahn in Strasbourg in 1781.  The case is of the repousse style and in excellent condition, the watch mechanism is clean and free of visible damage; the enamel face of the watch has both Roman and Arabic numbers.  There is a surface crack running from the winding hole and there are chips around the winding mechanism.  The crystal is intact. The watch comes with the winding key.  I have not been able to determine if the watch was intended for a man or woman, but it is of small size, as noted in the photos.  I inherited the watch in excess of fifty years ago, and I have never attempted to determine if it is in working condition, better left to an expert watch repair service.
