Estimated price for orientation: 1 700 $

Description Year of Manufacture: Pre-1920 Country/Region of Manufacture: Switzerland
I am selling a very old pocket watch attributed to Edouard Perregaux a very respected watch maker from the early 1800”s. This watch was probably made around 1870. The has a interesting history. In 1876 the watch was given to Thomas Ponus who was the secretary of the free Masonic Lodge De Goede Hoop in Cape Town South Africa in 1876. The inside back cover has an inscription stating that the officers and members presented this watch to him. The watch features a very fine 18K full hunter case in near mint condition with “bassine et filets and engine turning on the side. The extremely fine movement features a double train independent center seconds with a small jump second hand at the 6:00 position. The wonderful movement features full nickel plating 23 jewels, pallet fork and escape wheel with gold caps, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, two train independent seconds activated by a push piece on the side. The dial is white enamel, radial narrow Roman numerals, outer minute track, outermost seconds divided into fourths, subsidiary quarter second jump diablotine. This is a very unusual rare exceptional watch. The watch measures 53.4 MM in Diameter not counting the bow and weighs 120 grams. Because the case is in such good condition and the bow is very tight I have to believe that this watch has spent the majority of its life in storage. All the functions work perfectly
