The secret behind the successful design, perhaps, is in a subtle way that the brand’s designers have balanced the (originally) unimpressive layout of the open-worked ETA movement with a sporty square case using nothing more than three black rims for the chronograph sub-dials and a deliberately multi-part bezel. The result is one of the most attractive “affordable” chronograph that money can buy.   While skeletonized wristwatches are very rarely successful when it comes to relatively inexpensive timekeepers with their exterior either highly unbalanced or outright ridiculous, with the new Edox Classe-Royale Limited Edition Jackpot chronograph, the Classe-Royale family, which is considered to be one of the most popular in Edox’s model range, may be proud of its new -almost transparent- member.   The way the mass-produced caliber was integrated into the whole picture is stunning, and also appreciated is the massive effort behind this product. Just to put things in perspective, take a minute and compare this gorgeous timepiece with the new limited edition Hamilton Jazzmaster, which is, too powered by the same mechanism. While the Hamilton looks pathetic with its unreadable dial and uninspiring design, this new offer from Edox truly stands out.   Featuring an easily-recognizable design of the boxy case, the Jackpot edition hides nothing of its inner workings allowing for an unobstructed view through its skeletonized dial and transparent case-back cover.   Beating inside case is automatic Edox chronograph caliber 95. Based on the ETA 2894S2 caliber, this one comes with a satin-finished surface and a branded oscillating weight without any extra decoration for the sake of better congruence with the hi-tech design of the case. Its hour and minute hands are covered with Superluminova, so, reading time at night will not be an issue.
