excellent 18th century london gold verge fusee ~ shagreen case

about 48 mm diameter across the outer case ~ shagreen covered & is in superb condition ~ only damage to cover is at the pip to open the case ~ all the pins are in place ~ i thin the outer case is not solid gold though it is a gold color ~ the inner case is solid gold ~ 18k or better by my reckoning ~ topped off by it"s original ribbed bow & twisty pendant ~ 7 knuckles on the hinge for the front bezel ~ clear glass bull's eye crystal ~ excellent deep blued steel beetle & poker hands ~ classic english enamel dial with arabic 5 minute markers & roman numerals ~ the dial is in very nice condition ~ catch to swing out movement sticks out through the front of the dial at the bottom of the 6 ~ sparkling fire gilt movement is signed matt hill ~ london # 181 ~ i have matt listed in my bailles from 1744 till 1790 & feel confident this is one of his earlier pieces due to several clues.... such as the catch latch sticking out from the front & the worm wheel setup under the mainspring barrel ~ lovely hand pierced & engraved balance cock with a floral edge & a bird of paradise? at the neck ~ key set from the front / key wind from the rear ~ the watch is in good running order running the full length of the chain but not checked for timekeeping ~ considering the age of this watch it has been amazingly well cared for over the centuries & remains in fantastic overall condition ~ quality throughout ~ a beautiful pair cased london verge for the enthusiast to enjoy! please ask questions and resolve issues before you place your bid reserve? no reserve here! so if you like it you better place your bid now before it gets away! thanks for checking out my listing and if you are into watches please check out my other & you might want to keep a half-an-eye on my upcoming listings as i am liquidating a long time watchmaker's estate-whilst i continue to span the globe for unique and exotic items to bring to your door!
