fine 18k c1800 miniature musical quarter repeater

early 1800s ~ 40.6 mm diameter (just over 1.5 inches) across the case ~ in my experience at least 99 out of 100 antique musical quarter repeaters are the larger size (about 60 mm or so) ~ in quite excellent overall condition ~ key wind / key set all from the rear ~ i believe the 4 inch chain attached is gold (& very very nice) ~ has a 14 stamped on the bail ~ breguet style gold ratcheting key is also excellent ~ plunge pendant quarter repeater strikes out the hours 1st with a double strike for each completed quarter hour passed ~ hammers strike nice sounding gongs ~ gold bow is tight ~ clear glass beveled edged crystal ~ original deep blued steel breguet moon hands with polished steel moons ~ superb gold dial with roman numerals ~ a variety of finishes applied to the dial create a wonderful overall effect ~ with engine turning on the case rear there are buttons located on either side of the pendant ~ the one located at the 2 pops open the front bezel while the 1 at 11 opens the rear cover ~ there is also a small slide button located in the case body at about 8 o'clock which activates the music ~ the sound of this watch i would call spectacular as compared to musicals i have had in the past ~ certainly among the best ~ the music plays for over 30 seconds ~ underneath the gold cuvette that has 3 holes in it marked for musique & aiguilles (music & hands) with the last hole employed when winding up the time train ~ poking out from under the cuvette is a switch that allows the music to play upon passing the hour / or to keep it silent ~ sparkling gilded movement with solid gold balance wheel ~ cylinder escapement ~ all complete & in good order ~ this combination of quality ~ condition & size present a scare opportunity to acquire hard to fill slot in many collections ~ sure to please the enthusiast! copy & paste this address into a browser to see a poor quality video of the music playing: https://youtu.be/ail6t-T4SYo please ask questions and resolve issues before you place your bid reserve? no reserve here! so if you like it you better place your bid now before it gets away! thanks for checking out my listing and if you are into watches please check out my other & you might want to keep a half-an-eye on my upcoming listings as i am liquidating a long time watchmaker's estate-whilst i continue to span the globe for unique and exotic items to bring to your door!
