His masterpiece, a splendid clock in the form of a monstrance, which he was selling for 480 florins, is in the possession of the ducal museum at Braunschweig. Treffler, the son of an Augsburg Drechsler, was between and watchmaker of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Ferdinando II. De Medici, in Florence, where he had built for Galileo and his pupil Vincenzo Viviani instruments before again returned to Augsburg.
