Originally, the company designed and produced jewelry and everyday items such as sunglasses which were then sold in a boutique located in Geneva. Gruosi introduced the use of black diamonds into many of his designs, which at the time was very unusual. With the success that followed he was quickly able to open boutiques in London, Gstaad, Rome, Paris, St. Moritz, Kuwait, Moscow and Hong Kong - all within the first five years. It wasn't until the year 2000 that Fawaz developed his first watch collection for de Grisogono, the Instrumento No Uno. The featured watch is an Automatic, Stainless Steel de Grisogono Grande No. 1. The Grande No. 1 is generously proportioned at 40 x 48 mm case with its fully cambered, wrist-hugging profile. Aesthetically understated yet coolly assertive, its generous dimensions include a large, square bezel and a pair of mobile case horns. This piece comes in polished Stainless Steel case with a crown at 3 o'clock, sapphire crystal, and a transparent caseback to view its intricate movement. The white dial with rhodium indexes and hands with superluminova is gorgeous with its guilloche finishing and unique design. The sapphire crystal back is open, allowing one to view the intricate workings and it is water resistant up to 30 meters. Completing the piece is a Black Leather Strap with a Grisogono hidden butterfly deployment buckle.
