SUMMARY:
A  rare  solid silver repousse late-17th century verge chain driven fusee pair-case pocket watch by William Wrots of London, fully serviced, overhauled and keeping good verge time. The watch has been fully serviced and overhauled by my watch maker, and is keeping good verge time. The watch comes from a private collection where it has clearly been looked after. Watches from this period with the fire-gilding to the watch movement and cases in such bright condition are very uncommon and with a large balance cock foot. The movement with fine Egpytian square pillars and with finely made and decorated blued steel beetle and poker hands, and a very pretty repousse outer case, albeit rather worn
.
This is a beautifully made English key-wound man's verge pocket watch, dating from ca. 1700. The watch is clearly marked silver and in its original period cases. The watch is in full working order and comes complete with a key for winding, and a solid silver watch chain and presentation box. Mint watches in this condition, can only rise in value, given the limited supply of such items.  We are a Platinium eBay Power-Seller, so please bid with confidence UNUSUAL FEATURES: The watch in simply magnificent condition and from a private collection where it has clearly been looked after very well.  Watches from this period with no pin holes, excess solder filling or stretch marks are very uncommon today. The movement with fine Egpytian square pillars and equally superbly made period steel beetle and poker hands. The watch is very handsome piece indeed and further complimented by very fine condition cases. THE DIAL: 95% mint, the raised white enamel dial with fine black Roman numerals, and a separate minute track to outside of dial. The bright white enamel dial with no  hairlines, but the normal edge chip opposite the catch at 6.00. The dial with original blued steel hour and minute beetle and poker hands, please do note the delicate 5-pointed hour hand and superbly fettled minute hand, both are a work of art. The dial with movement release catch at 6.00, typical of early English watches and in full working order. The domed glass in very fine condition. Diameter is 36 mm. THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with richly gilded full plate in wonderful condition. The well engraved and carved rococo style solid silver balance cock and large foot in superb condition with flower to centre. The back plate with further solid silver decoration and finely made blued steel Tompion time regulator plate with finely pierced and decorated additional plate. An uncut three arm steel balance, English verge escapement with flat hairspring and fusee and chain. The watch signed, William Wrots of London, number 395. The watch is keywind, comes with a key and is ticking very strongly indeed and movement size is 35 mm diameter. The movement with rare early ballustar pillars, have only seen one other like this in the last 10 years. Polished steel movement bolt with its original blued steel ornate screw. Pierced gilded fusee stop work with iron hinge. The movement with several high quality early features. These consist of the fusee ratchet on the outside of the fusee, the third wheel is positioned at the top of the movement and the mainspring set up is under the barrel via a worm and ratchet and a highly decorative and carved case spring.  The finely blued screws are original, the fusee stop iron spring screw is ornate as is the case catch, a fine example of its kind and the gilding is still bright and fresh. The watch comes with a watch key and the watch runs the full length of the fusee chain.  The watch is much brighter and  crisp than in these dark photos, which are limited by my camera and lighting equiment.  The watch is in very good working order for its age.  THE CASE: 90% mint, the solid silver outer repousse case measures 50 mm outside diameter. The matching deep, silver inner case measures 45 mm and with a few fine patination marks as shown. The five knuckle square outer case hinge is excellent with the case closing tight and like-wise the inner case hinge also closes tight. The pendant and d-shaped bow, in superb condition. The outer case with very pretty classical design to the repousse case with various small holes and some small splits, and the normal wear to high points. The surface is complete and in very fine and bright condition.  The cases of heavy gauge and a good weight and feel in the pocket. The outer-case spring clip in working order and the silvered button showing minor wear.  This is a very fine period antique in simply stunning condition, which is a very rare collectable item or a possible investment for the future or of course a fine gift for a birthday, anniversary, wedding etc. TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
