Movement- Excellent, clean condition Egyptian pillar verge signed by John Wilter London. Online search suggested John Wilter was active from 1760-84 placing this watch somewhere around this time. Nice, clean & runs, but runs slow. I have not adjusted or tampered with it, so sold in good running condition but does not keep time. Nicely detailed balance cock. The workings all look in good shape and look quite clean. Balance swing freely and the key winds up smoothly. No Key supplied.
Outter Case-Size outter case- 53mm diameter.solid silver repoussé case, with detailed hammer work around the entire case, and a large scene on the back. Case hinges are in good working order. Some typical wear and small dints as to be expected with age. There is a small split on the bezel near the case latch but does not affect the watch, also on the bezel is two very small raised areas worn through, only visible upon close inspection.Case button works fine.
Inner case -46mm diameter. 26mm thick inc glass. In good clean condition. Hinges work well no damage. Case clicks together fine. Fits perfectly to outer case. There is slight visible wear around the edges from the outer case, quite common to see. Not to deep. Overall great condition for age. Looks good and clean.Hallmarked with what looks like a crown and E.C underneath. Not exactly sure on this hallmark.
Dial-Slightly domed, enamel dial. Good condition except an old repaired chip at 6 o'clock and a faint hairline above it. Clear numerals with nicely detailed outline. With both hands.Crystal- Very highly domed bullseye Mineral glass in ok condition for age only light scratches and small chip at 11.
Please note.As with most watches of this age I can't offer exact timekeeping guarantees. Watches of this age should not be expected to keep good time.
