Leuchars Picadilly London Unique Purse-Book Form Lady’s Travel Watch Gilt 4” x 2-5/8” x Approx. 1” Open-Face, Keywind/Keyset C. 1850: This wonderful and unusual piece features a purse form gilt outer case with a fancy faux clasp on the front. The case hinges open and there is a hinged book form inner case which is fully engraved with scroll patterns on the front panel. The back of the case allows you to access the keywind/keyset arbors of the 15 jewel gilt Swiss made movement. The back cover is signed “Leuchars 38 Picadilly London.” The timepiece carries a silver dial decorated with a beautiful kaleidoscope pattern at center and marked with Roman chapters. The dial is very fine with blue butterfly form hands. The near mint case also has a sliding removable interior panel which is fitted into the back cover recess. The overall condition is near mint, a very unusual item. eA-HS122006-55
