John Ellicot 1778 superb gold pair cased cylinder pocket watch t.1217
Full plate gilt cylinder movement, pierced and engraved balance cock with asymmetric foliate decoration and rose-cut diamond endstone, fusee and chain, pillars with fancy pierced foliate scroll sides.
white enamel dial, Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute track, blued steel beetle and poker hands.
Gilt metal dust cap, plain gold inner case, Plain polished gold outer case. Both cases with maker's mark ITP for John Terrill Pain and hallmarked innercase “b” outercase year-mark “C” 1777-1779, movement and cuvette signed Ellicott, movement, inner & outer-case and cuvette numbered and 7376.
Size Diameter 50 mm 132g. The watch is in very nice undamaged condition, dial and hands are mint, inner case with small signs af use, outer case in perfect condition. Auction results. A similar watch by Ellicott, with repoussé case, sold for. 32,500 GBP (with Buyer's Premium) on Sotheby`s Auction “The celebration of the English watch” III, 15 Dec 2015, London. Reference:

Vergoldete Metall Staubdeckel, beide gehäuse glatt. Beide Gehäuse mit Meistermarke ITP für John Terrill Pain und Jahresmarke"b" Innengeh. Jahrmarke "C" im Ausengeh. circa 1777-1779, im Werk und Küvette signiert Ellicott, Werk, Innen- und Außengeh und Küvette nummeriert 7376. Durchmesser 50 mm. gewicht 132g. circa 1778.
