Watch Maker : Listed as Francis M. Moore, son of James Moore of Belfast, working Belfast and Dublin 1854 to 1894. Case : 18ct solid gold, hallmarked for London 1879/80, makers initials ‘G.A.P’ and numbered ‘5675’ matching the dial & movement numbers.The case is in excellent condition, hinges tight and covers snap shut. The rear cover is engraved with a Coat of Arms, including an arm with a dagger piercing a heart and inscription ‘DEO FIDE FERRO COMITANTE’. The inner cover carries a presentation inscription :J. Hume Dudgeon Esq. Hon. Secretary ROYAL IRISH YACHT CLUB as a token of esteem from his brother members 10th May, 1886 Note : Joseph Hume Dudgeon was born in 1855, he was a stockbroker and lived at Merville, County Dublin. He married Isabella Best McCorquodale on 10th May 1886 and died on 31st Aug, 1923. Dial : The enamel dial is in very good condition and signed ‘F.M. MOORE, DUBLIN-BELFAST 5675’. There is one tiny very faint hairline crack from the centre to the text (need a magnifier to see it). Crystal & Hands : The bevelled glass crystal and hands are in good original condition. Movement : The quality ¾ plate jewelled English Lever movement is signed ‘Francis M. Moore, Dublin & Belfast’ and numbered ‘5675’. The normal time function with the lower subsidiary seconds dial is in good working order, keeping good time (crown wind and pin set). The centre seconds ‘Stop Watch’ function will run for a few seconds and then stop, also stopping the normal time function, so the movement would benefit from a service (to activate the Stop Watch press the crown to start, again to stop and again to re-set to zero). Dimensions : The watch case measures 50mm across and 71mm length including the stem and bow. The watch weighs 128g total.Please Note - 'UK' posting only, no overseas posting.
