I have for sale a lovely Waltham solid 9ct Gold Wristwatch. The Year of manufacture is approximately 1907. I have owned the watch for the last 29 Years, and it has never been worn, just stored as part of my collection. It has recently had a service, and is in the same condition as when I purchased it. It does loose about 15 minutes over a 24 hour period, but otherwise it runs really well.
The front cover screws off and the face hinges away to reveal the workings of the watch.The case diameter including the crown is 37mm
There are some stamps within the inside of the Gold casing. Please see: A.L.D. This is the mark for Aaron Dennison who was an important pioneer in watch making by machinery; in fact it could be said that he was the most important pioneer, in that it was his ideas that started the mass production of watch movement parts by machinery in America, which had major knock-on effects on watch making in Switzerland and England. After initiating a revolution in watch making, Dennison set up a company in Birmingham, England, to make watch cases, and many collectors will have watches with cases made by the Dennison watch case company. 375 Indicates that the case is manufactured from 9ct Gold Anchor Indicates that the case was manufactured in Birmingham,UK. There are initials on the rear of the watch – MHJ Please see the attached photographs There are some inscribed dates where the watch has been serviced, plus there are a few other stamps in the case, however I am not too sure what they mean.
