The Swiss watch and movement factory Lemania was founded in 1884 by Alfred Lugrin (1858-1920), who had acquired his expertise as an auxiliary worker at Jaeger - LeCoultre in Le Sentier . Because of the outstanding quality of his watch movements, Lugrin received high awards and gold medals at exhibitions in Milan in 1906 and in Berne in 1914 . From the very beginning he specialized in the production of chronographs , stopwatches and watches with repetition striking.Until 1930, the factory had its name under Lugrin SA until Lugrin's son-in-law Marius Meylan established the brand name Lemania Watch Co., based in l'Orient . In 1932 Lemania, Omega and Tissot joined the SSIH group. Due to the close cooperation with Omega, great chronograph calibers were produced. Famous was the Lemania caliber 2310 (Omega caliber 321) with the Omega Speed-master Professional, which was qualified by NASA for manned spaceflights in 1962 and on July 21, 1969, accompanied Buzz Aldrin on his first steps on the moon . The caliber 1883 (Omega caliber 864) was used for the watches with sight-glass in the ground,With the advent of electronic watches in the 1970s, sales of mechanical watches from the SSIH Group collapsed massively. In 1980 the creditor banks gave Nicolas Hayek the task to restructure the group. In the course of a management buy-out , Lemania separated from the SSIH Group in 1981 and changed its name to Nouvelle Lemania . In 1992 the Nouvelle Lemania came to Groupe Horloger Breguet and was taken over by the Swatch Group in 1999. The Lemania calibers are still used today in watches of numerous well-known brands.LEMANIA SWISS MADE CHRONOGRAPH 18K SOLID GOLD MASSIVE 37.5 mm MANUAL MENS WATCHDescription:CASE:Original, Swiss made.18K Solid Pink GoldWidth: 37.5 mm (1.48")Length: 43.5 mm (1.71")Depth: 13 mm (.51")Large round shape with flat chronograph pushers at 2 and 4, metal dust cover and shiny solid gold press-in back.Condition: Outstanding, in excellent overall condition with some signs of age or wear.Markings: 18k gold seal and Swiss gold hallmark stamped on the back.
