You are bidding on a minty 18k solid gold, 53.8-mm Ulysses Grant Presidential Presentation hunt case pocket watch given in appreciation to one Captain John Cook, Master of the British Schooner, “Annie Brown” for coming to the aid and rescue of the American Schooner, “Ravens Wing” during a squall off the coast of The America’s. The movement is one of exceptionally high grade, which I believe to be the work of Jules Jurgensen and sourced by the New York jeweler, T.S. & J.D. Negus. The front and back covers are near mint. The hinges are excellent. The only noticeable marks on the watch are that from a case knife near the lip of the cuvette and a few very faint ones by the winding hole. It is a back wind and back set. There is a copy of Captain’s obituary in which this watch is mentioned (half way down in the second column. This magnificent watch belongs in the Smithsonian.        The pictures take precedence over the written description so, please study them carefully because what you see is exactly what you will receive.       Sold “AS IS” and as pictured.    Get your bids in early so you won’t be out-sniped at the last second.   (J). I’ll “let the pictures tell the rest of the story. As additional visual descriptions, they take precedence over any and all of the written descriptions. They are very clear and should leave no doubt as to the condition of this watch. In most cases you are the expert also, so please judge these pictures for yourself. If I have erred in the description at all, it was purely unintentional. The pictures are part of the description so please study them closely and bid on what you see and know. If you would like additional pictures of this watch, I will gladly e-mail them to you. If you are not familiar with watch terms such as hairlines, brassing, double sunk, lever set etc. please ask any and all questions before you bid. I have tried to describe this watch as accurately as possible and if I have omitted anything, it was purely unintentional. I do guarantee the description of the watch however; due to the age of the watch (in some cases more than 100 years old) it is being sold “As Is”. I strongly suggest that all shipments be insured, especially the more expensive watches because I cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss done by The Post office or any other shipper. If you have any questions, I will gladly answer them by e-mail.  Note: I do not ship to Malaysia or Indonesia.  I Must receive payment within 3 days of close of auction. Please check my auctions weekly for new watches. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!!  Bidding; If you have no feedback or multiple negative feedback, Do Not Bid.
