Please note I am not a professional watch collector. I'm merely liquidating a first rate (my opinion) collection and therefore do not accept returns. The pictures are the best description so please look carefully. Not being a photographer this one was difficult at best to photograph! Buyer receives watch pictured. This will be one of the most difficult descriptions I'm sure I will ever attempt to write. Without personally seeing and holding this pocket watch, you just can't appreciate its beauty! I'm quite sure it is a one of a kind. It is a massive 167.2 grams on my digital scale of 18K solid gold. Watch is approximately 56.31mm on our digital calipers (not including pendant or bow). On top of the gold dial you see the words "French Royal Exchange London". I believe this to be a John Moore French of the City Observatory from the mid to late 1800s . A time-ball was operated in Cornhill with a telegraph link to Greenwich, which dropped a ball from a tower at precisely 13:00 daily. This was quite an honor a few were selected to do this. It seems to be an Arnold/Earnshaw style spring detent chronometer. The gold balance work on the bridges is simply stunning. The diamond end stone could have been put in a piece of jewelry. Hallmarks abound on these case lids. I believe the LC is the renowned  case maker Louis Comptese. It wouldn't surprise me that he also crafted the gold dial which is by far the most beautiful gold dial I have ever seen. Watch is key set from the front after lifting the crystal cover and key wound from the back. Key is included but not pictured! When the watch is fully wound it runs 24 hours plus (stopped watching) in the face down position. When in other positions ie... face up, stem up, etc... the watch tends to stop and start sometimes. No doubt a professional cleaning is in order, but one should surely send the watch to someone responsible for a watch this valuable and rare. Not being a watch person, all the above is drawn from research. This one has been fascinating to research!
