Vivier a Hesdin 1690 French Oignon Verge Fusee Pocket watch Diana on the hunt 163g. Huge and magnificently decorated, oignon pocket watch with verge escapement made by the watchmaker I.B. Vivier from Hesdin (North of France ) circa 1690-1700. Reference of the watchmaker : H.L. Tardy "Dictionnaire des Horlogers Francais" , Paris, page 647 with photo of one of his watches. Diameter of the watch 58mm, thickness 38mm, weight 163g. The present watch with lush and ornate gilt brass case. The reverse depicts a mythological hunting scene with Diana / Artemis ( goddess of hunting ) and her entourage in the dense forest. In front of them a Cherub with torch. The case is in very nice condition. Glass with small signs of age and wear. Enamelled dial with bulges under the 12 cartridges . Roman hour display, Arabic minute. Two iron hands. Dial on the lower edge minimally damaged. Gorgeous and very high full plate movement with verge escapement, fusee and chain. Slotted columns with silver capitals. Inside the movement a rack with vegetal ornamentation. Very finely pierced balance cover with floral decorative elements and birds. Great application made of silver with Arabic scale and face at the spring adjustment. The movement is signed with " I.B. Vivier a Hesdin ". Overall state of the watch is very nice and functional.Important !!! Vivier aus Hesdin (Nordfrankreich) um 1690-1700. Literaturnachweis des Uhrmacher: H.L. Tardy „Dictionnaire des Horlogers Francais“, Paris, Seite 647 mit Abbildung einer seiner Uhren. Durchmesser der Uhr 58mm, Dicke 38mm, Gewicht 163g. Vorliegende Uhr mit üppig verziertem und vergoldetem Messinggehäuse. Die Rückseite zeigt eine mythologische Jagdszene mit Diana/Artemis (Göttin der Jagd) und ihrem Gefolge im dichten Wald. Allen voran weist ihnen ein flügelnder Putto mit Fackel den Weg. Das Gehäuse ist in sehr schönem Zustand. Glas mit kleinen Spuren des Alters und des Tragens. Emailliertes Zifferballt mit Wölbungen unter den 12 Kartuschen. Römische Stundeanzeige, arabische Minute. Zwei Eisenzeiger. Zifferblatt an der unteren Kante minimal beschädigt. Außergewöhnlich prächtiges und sehr hohe Vollplatinenwerk mit Spindelhemmung, Kette und Schnecke. Geschlitzte Säulen mit Silberkapitellen. Mittelsteg mit vegetabiler Ornamentik. Sehr fein durchbrochen gearbeitete Unruhabdeckung mit floralen Zierelementen und Vögeln.
