t. 442   Very early French vergeuhr of the Parisian watchmaker Marc Delamare with beautifully ornate and gilded case dating back to 1700. Lush and very fine decorated, gold plated brass case. The entire surface is decorated with a finely engraved and embossed decoration. The reverse depicts the mythological scene after Ovid "Aktaion surprised Diana with the bath water". Aktaion, the son of Apollo, trained to hunt surprises Diana bathing in the bathwater. He is then transformed into a stag in mauled by his own dogs. Present the appearance with hunting dog and bathing Diana. The case is in very nice condition, undamaged. Glass also in very good condition. Enamelled dial with Roman hour and Arabic minute.
