Magnificent Jean Pierre Thuillier vergeuhr Perseus & Andromeda Pegasus Paris 1740t. 906 Magnificent and splendidly decorated double case pocket watch watchmaker Jean Pierre Thuillier from Switzerland and Paris to 1740 . Both case made of gold. Inner case with gold counters; Master brand, French Lily, Loève, Crown and case No. 337. Outer case finely worked with relief moulded representation of the mythological scene of the liberation of Andromeda by Perseus. To punish her mother's hubris that her daughter Andromeda held for more beautiful than the Nereids, Poseidon sent the sea monster Ketos. To save the country from before the monster Andromeda was chained to a rock by the sea, to be sacrificed to the monster. Then Perseus comes on the winged horse Pegasus fly, defeated the monster, freed Andromeda and takes her for his wife. To this scene, the four elements in allegory of different animals: Swan (water), Dragon (Fire), Adler (air) and monkey with fruit (earth). Both case in Nice condition with small traces of age and wearing. Enamelled dial with Roman hour and Arabic minute. Two blued hands. The dial is restored to the opener at 6 o'clock. Often lavishly decorated, gold plated full plate movement with vergehemmung, chain and Fusee. Exceptionally nicely shaped work pillars of polished steel and gold-plated bronze. Sawn elaborately made of silver and engraved balance wheel cover with paradise birds and shellfish. In a sea snake with-arrow of hands for the spring adjustment washer. Blued screws. The clean work runs flawlessly. The work is signed "JP Thuillier" and 337 Numbers. Clock diameter 49mm, weight 100 g. case No. 337. Jean Pierre Thuillier was married to Françoise Manthe, from this marriage the son of Jean Antoine Thuillier was born, with whom he later worked. Jean Pierre Thuillier died in 1768 . Beautiful and magnificently decorated pair case pocket watch by watchmaker Jean Pierre Thuillier from Switzerland circa 1740 . Both cases are made of gold, inner case with no. 337 , French gold hallmarks and master mark AM, Lilly, lion and I think a crown. Outer case very fine crafted with relief molded depiction of the mythological scene of the liberation of Andromeda by Perseus.
