Ladies' Rare Elgin Black Enameled Parisienne Watch From the Jazz Age - SERVICED
Deco-era Elgin wristwatches are always satisfying to study and offer for sale. After all, the Elgin Watch factory was the biggest watch factory in the world, with its own jeweling house, watch college, and observatory stretching across city block after city block in the little town of Elgin, Ill. This progressive company spared no expense in finding the most talented artists and case designers to come up with a look that would set their watches apart from and, ABOVE, the rest. When this rare Elgin was created, the Deco movement was in full swing, art was on everyone's mind, and craftsmen were doing some of their finest work. Each watch house sought to be set apart as the leader in style and design. The crash had hit and money was tight along Wall Street to Fifth Avenue: those customers who could afford to pay whatever it took to have the finest, the best, the brightest were rare and highly prized. During this "Jazz Age," Elgin Watch Company decided to garner the spot as the finest house for ladies timepiece – a spot they achieved and held for nearly half a century. This is a rare variation in the  famous "Parisienne" Elgin series – a group of Jazz-Age watches wildly sought by collectors and designers alike. Its exciting wrist stance seems to serve as a magnet for conversation and envy among those with taste good enough to know fine things. So rare that is considered a myth by many seasoned collectors and horologists, it is the culmination of outrageous Deco design and a must for someone who will accept nothing but the finest example of Jazz-Age wrist-art. Measuring approximately 28mm by 17mm wide with black ribbon band - which will be custom sized to fit the recipient's wrist – and period buckle, this spectacular timepiece is the very realization of the "mad world" of Deco design. We have, of course, taken the liberty of having this extraordinary timepiece cleaned, oiled and calibrated so that it keeps time as intended.

As many of our fine buyers and repeat clients know, each day we offer a smattering of things we've picked up here and there, many fine watches and pieces of jewelry that for one reason or another we'll not be offering on our Web site – some new old stock! Take a moment to look through our eBay offerings and bypass the estate and yard sale madness for watches and outstanding pieces of Victorian and Deco jewelry –  many of which are running and pristine – that are ridiculously underpriced. Watches this week include a '20s ladies antique watch or two, '30s Deco pieces, a '40s military style wristwatch, and fine Retro stainless steel wristwatches that are representative of a style that’s becoming all the rage; as well as gold rings and vintage wire lug examples perfect for restoration. Coming up are sterling silver wristwatches and a few items dug out of the workbench drawer of a retired watchmaker or two. Don't know anything about wristwatches? Have no idea about your grandfather's railroad pocket watch? We're one of the Web's largest vintage wrist and pocket watch dealers and are delighted to answer any questions you have about the timepieces we offer or those heirlooms you're unsure of. We extend a heartfelt invitation to see our other offerings and stop by to find out what's next!
