Up for auction is one very scarce Le Jour ( Yema) The "Superman" watch. The SUPERMAN name brings a lot of  high expectations, and this LeJour meets them admirably. This watch was initially launched by Yema in 1963 in France, exporting under the name Le Jour, and is claimed to be (almost) indestructible. The nicely sized 39mm diver was quickly adopted by the French Army and many adventurers and explorers of the day. It was advertised to " tech quanauts" as the Ultimate diving watch with a rating of 990 feet. Most interestingly, it was also advertised to businessmen and the white collar class as a worry-free daily wearer. The lock mechanism of the bezel was patented (patients pending this version), and gives a unique look to the Superman. LeJour (which means "the day" in French) is the major export name of Yema, who was a major French watchmaking company at the time. This explains the prominent Y engraved on the case back and the similarities between international examples.  This incredibly rare watch appears to wind and work just fine. The little metal attachment near the stem does wiggle slightly. Waterproofing has not been recently tested. It still glows in the dark and brightly at that. It is sold without any band as the one pictured is not only a replacement but also somewhat damaged and has basically no value.
