For  sale very first Omega Constellation 2648, stainless steel case, caliber 352,  deluxe execution chronometer grade movement.Stunning light ocher two tone dial has a beautiful uniform patina, some spot and and few marks,  is the original factory dial, and macro pictures always show what the naked eyes can't see in the wrist. Is hard to show the real color with different lights, but the combination of the two tone  dial, with Rose Gold hands and hours markers with stainless steel is representative of a never back beauty generation of elegance with discretion in the early 50's. Pictures never make justice...Omega start the production of the Constellation model in 1952. First case was reference 2648, and most of the 2648 Constellation where made in Gold, as the model Centenary, Omega make the first batch of  2648 in 18 K solid gold, and very few units in stainless steel. ( with caliber 352 RG) For what reason you put the best movement ever created in a stainless steel case? For those who don't like gold. The stainless steel case is unpolished, real untouched, with slight traces of use, serious collectors  know that  watches lost most of the value if the case, dial, parts has been manipulated. This combination; 2648 SS case and 352 RG movement was launched for a very short period,  and only few units went  to the market. Omega Seamaster 1952  with same caliber 352 RG is consider a very rare and scarce watch, and prices command actually to 1700 €,  Constellation 1952 line, was more exclusive, expensive and restricted production watch, so is even a more limited edition. Omega replace the same year 1952, the first case 2648 for new ref. 2652 case, because this last one was waterproof . 2652 case was available till 1957. The period of 2648 case  was so short, that I saw the new 2652 case with 352 RG movement with 12.48 M serial number! Why case 2648 makes the difference...because is the same case that Omega design to commemorate the 100 years of the company ,launched in the market the legendary Centenary  model in solid 18 K gold. Was the most well made, three faceted bezel case, with very thin and elegant lugs,  and a oversize size of 35 mm wide excluding the crown, and 42 mm lug to lug, this is not a 50's medium size watch, was the model to show the world Omega 100 years history.Original rose gold hands, and 10 faceted stainless steel thin crown are impossible to find, and replacement are not the same and  rest value to the watch. This is a real original first Omega Constellation, with all the parts, aspects and care that it should be have for be considered 100% original.Difference in prices from the same 2648 case with 354 movement are substantial, as you can see in the last pictures, and difference between Gold cases and stainless steel cases is only 20%. There are no more records of prices since this last auctions, but in exclusive watches prices never go done. What make this watch so special?... the case or the movement...both at the same time, matching from the factory. In the early 50's, Omega as a first brand with  in-house build movements, own the  same reputations as  a Rolex,Longines, Vacheron, Jaeger.. but with the 30 mm  movement series, in 1951 Omega set a new record of accuracy, beating his past record from  1947 of  834,9  to 867,7 points. All the other first in house Swiss brand participate in the same contest.....both years, and Omega win. Movement caliber 352 start production in 1949 till  1952,  COSC adjusted in 5 positions and temperatures, this movement is assembled by experienced senior Omega employee hands, made by so high and fine  standard , that for leaving the house they must paired at the same requirements of Neuchatel Observatory, the independet Swiss organism who certified the accuracy of COSC watch movements.Watch movement is extremely clean and  lubricated,  so I  check accuracy and is excellent. Surface cleaning and check by a professional watchmaker. The watch come with a new high end, real croco dark brown  leather strap and original Omega stainless steel buckle from the early 60's, and Omega red box from the 50's.You are invited to see my others auctions.
