SUMMARY:
A mint and very rare condition solid 18k gold cased pocket watch by the watch maker, J. Wycherley of Prescot, with up/down state of wind and retailed by Owen Simmons of Fareham. The watch recently serviced and overhauled by my watch-maker and keeping very good time indeed. This is a beautifully made English key-wound mans substantial pocket watch, dating from ca. 1876, from the late Victorian period with a rare up/down wind indicational display. The buy it now price is a clear reflection of the rarity, stunning condition and long-term investment for this watch. Mint watches in this condition, can only rise in value, given the limited supply of such items. We are a Platinium eBay Power-Seller, so please bid with confidence, we give our email and contact telephone number below, so do feel free to contact us to discuss any watches we have available. THE DIAL: 95% mint, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and in bright condition with no chips and several faint hairlines. The dial with blued steel spade hands and a blue steel sub seconds hand. Diameter is 47 mm. The crystal is also in excellent condition. The dial with up/down state of wind indication in full working order. THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with finely gilded three-quarter plate and blued steel screws. A cut two arm bimetallic balance, with palladium hairspring and a non-magnetic single-roller lever escapement, with a gold lever and 15 jewels. The movement of good quality and ticking away on my desk as I type this, and keeping excellent time and just cleaned and overhauled by my watch-maker. The watch signed, "Owen Simmons of Fareham, 74633". The watch is key-wound and comes with a winding key. Under the dial on the movement top plate it is stamped "JW" for J. Wycherley of Prescot and 16/0 for 16 ligne size". The watch is much brighter and crisp than in these dark photos, which are limited by my camera and lighting equiment. The watch is in very good working order for its age. THE CASE: 100% mint, the solid 18k gold consular case measures 53 mm. The front and rear covers are excellent, both are hinged and close nice and tightly. The case with top cover which pops open when the pendant button is depressed. The inner solid 18k gold dust cuvette in excellent condition. The case with gold hall marks from Chester and case maker mark of "JW" for J. Wycherley of Prescot. The top and rear covers in good order. The case band very finely engraved and carved and in superb order. The case with number 443, matching the movement number "443" found under the dial on the movement top plate. So clearly engraved for the retailer by Russell's prior to dispatch. THE PRESENTATION BOX: the watch comes with a new wooden presentation box. This is a high quality watch, a work of art in its own right in crisp condition and of jewel like quality. The pictures show minor reflections and various dark marks, these are an artefact from the lighting and are not present in the watch case. This is a very fine period gold fusee watch with state of winding indication in simply stunning condition, which is a very rare collectable item or a possible investment for the future or of course a fine gift for a birthday, anniversary, wedding etc. TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
