This came from Christies London in 2001, it is a very early verge pocket watch and is made by a Pierre Tollot C.1700. Pierre Tollot was born in Geneva in 1671 and trained as an watchmaker by Antoine II Arlaud in 1685. He was also active in Paris, according to some sources. Tollot is also mentioned in the book "Pierre Fatio et la crise de 1707" (Geneva) by Olivier Fatio and, Nicole Fatio edition 2007. There are watches in the Schlossmuseum Berlin and the Geneva Museum, Pierre Tollot died in Geneva on 19 January 1742
This is a silver & Tortoise pair case key wind verge fusee pocket watch made around 1700, Tortoise shell and silver outer case with pinwork decoration measures 55.7mm across. The silver plain inner case measures 48.2mm.
The condition of the Silver Champleve dial with outer arabic five minute markers and blue steel tulip and poker hands is excellent, signed P Tollot. The watch is working when wound. The gilt fusee movement with divided tulip pillars, finely pierced, chased and engraved winged balance cock is signed P. Tollot.A true investment quality pocket watch with
