Since 1953, the history and development of Glycine have always been connected with the evolution of aircraft and aviation. The special limited edition F 104 Automatic 48mm wrist and pocket watch commemorates the 100 year anniversary of Glycine which pays tribute to the legendary Lockheed F-104 Starfighter aircraft, a high performance supersonic fighter jet in the 1950s to ‘60s. Blending modern and classic elements together, this extraordinary model 3932.146AT.LB7R impresses by its pure functionality. The 48mm watch features a highly polished stainless steel case reminiscent of a manual wound pocket with a mineral crystal exhibition case back is attached securely by six screws allowing for a full view of the GL 244 automatic movement engraved on Glycine's own specialty ball bearing ruthenium coated oscillating weight. Hours, minutes, seconds and the date window displayed at 3 is easily readable with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Conceived like a board instrument, the dial is white with tan and black edged Arabic numerals and has an outer 60 second Scale and an interior 24 hour counter. The squelette style Superluminova hour and minute hands are also tan with a blue outline and seconds hand . Glycines name and year created is embossed in black on the upper half. Despite its extraordinary size, the case is ergonomically designed and conforms to any wrist by use of articulating movable lugs. A onion style crown lends an antique look and touch long missing from today’s fine timepieces. The leather strap is paying homage to the pilots bomber style jackets worn with that same tan color and suede soft touch feel with tan stitching and brass fittings gives this a vintage look with a modern feel.The pocket watch accompanys this set nicely with a 52mm stainless steel case and chain. The case is white with hours, minutes and seconds with small subdial seconds displayed over the 6.
