For sale is an incredibly cool and and unique Vulcain X-Treme Swiss-made manually-winding watch.I bought this watch in January of 2017 as a 'grail', but it is now looking for a new home. Vulcain is a prestigious, upper-echelon Swiss manufacture and the company that pioneered the mechanical alarm in watches, which at the time was considered an enormous horological breakthrough. The watches are also known as the President's watches because US Presidents for the last 60 years or so were either gifted or bought a Vulcain themselves. Some of the company's watches have MSRPs of over $50K.This particular piece is from their sports collection X-treme. The quality for the price is absolutely astounding. The watch just exudes quality and impeccable attention to detail. When they first came out, they were actually selling for $4K to $5K and for the features, they were priced slightly below the Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox. When they dropped to~$2K, my resolve gave in because I had never thought I can get a new Vulcain for that kind of money. The newer X-treme collection have MSRPs of over $10K. * The movement inside is the legendary, double-barrel, in-house manufacture Vulcain calibre V10* The 44mm case is made of several pieces of titanium, stainless steel and black PVD stainless steel.* The band is rubber, with an intricately decorated titanium clasp* Water resistance is 100M (though I like this watch way too much to get in anywhere near a pool or the ocean)* The crystal is an absolutely amazing domed sapphire with such excellent anti-reflective coating that it looks like it's not even there and you can straight up touch the dial* There is an internal diver's bezel that is rotated by the screw-down crown at the 9 o'clock position* Sword hands and an alarm handHow the watch operates: the pusher at the 2.30 releases the crown at the 3.30 that adjusts the alarm. When pushed all the way in, the 3.30 crown does two things: if rotated clockwise, it winds the barrel of the alarm; if rotated counter-clockwise, it winds the barrel of the movementAlso something to know before-hand: the alarm works as a small hammer is powered by the second barrel. When the alarm is not wound, you can sometimes hear the hammer move inside the case. That is normal and if you do not like it, you have to wind it back up. The watch will come with its original packaging. It is in impeccable condition, with nary a scratch on the case or crystal.Due to personal reasons, I need to sell the watch and possibly more of what I consider my 'watch grails'. I usually buy well so you might be able to get a decent price on some very high quality pieces.
