D.D Neveren - Pocket WatchVerge fusee pocket watch with porcelain painted scenic Farm dial. From third quarter of XVIII Century - Circa 1775. Sterling silver case with circularly sliding cover on the back for access to the winding hole. Hallmarked for Great Britain (lion) and town of Birmingham (anchor).Movement signed "D.D. Neveren, London".Neveren watchmeker's family (father and two sons) were Dutch, active in Amsterdam from the middle of XVII century. In about 1750 they moved to London, and established very successful business in Clerkenwell quarter. -Neveren is one of very few Dutch watchmakers, who actually worked in London his entire life. Couple of details which shows Dutch origin of workmanship: 1. Arched minute ring on the dial - only Dutch watchmakers were doing that. 2. Balance cock is hold in position by two screws - all English watchmakers were using just one screw for that purpose. Watch is in very good working condition, professionally restored.
