Please review all photos and read the description carefully, this vintage timepiece is sold "AS IS" in worn condition, and no returns are accepted:I purchased this from the original owner, but I am trying to down-size my collection, so hopefully you can benefit from this... NOTE: THIS WATCH IS GENUINE AND AUTHENTICFirst a little background... The Royal Oak, designed by legendary designer Gerald Genta, was arguably the first luxury sports-watch. This 14790 has an approximately 36mm case diameter (not including the crown) but wears slightly larger, due to the integrated bracelet design, and is therefore perfect for a man or a woman (who likes a slightly-larger timepiece). Please bear in mind this is not the "Jumbo" and is significantly smaller. This excellent collectible wristwatch, provides excellent value for money. Audemars recently reintroduced a two-tone Royal Oak last year with a MSRP of roughly $25K.This is the classic mid-size two tone Audemars Piguet, and for many people, their "grail timepiece". These guys are hard to date but I think it should date to somewhere in the (early to mid) 1980's from the serial numbers...This watch is not "mint" and the original owner wore this watch daily. I however, have babied it. The case and bezel do have many scratches, but this is a cool and importantly, an honest example of the 14790. The crown is functional, but as you can see from the photos, has sustained some minor aesthetic damage. The movement has been serviced by my watchmaker within the last year and the parts are all genuine Audemars -- except the original gaskets which unfortunately melted AND one screw at the 2 o'clock position (visible in photos) -- these have been replaced with aftermarket gaskets and an aftermarket screw, but if desired you should be able to eventually acquire the gaskets and screw from ebay or of course you send the watch to Audemars. As you never see the gaskets, and because I always kept the watch away from moisture, it has never been an issue. Nevertheless I must reiterate, like all vintage timepieces, this watch should be completely kept away from all moisture as it is collectible and water damage is the worst thing for a watch. That said, I have not noticed any issues with water while wearing it (but I always have taken it off before a shower).I am not disclosing the full serial numbers for the security and privacy of the buyer, but I do have them on file and can let you know the first few digits upon request.
The watch is sized to fit my 6 1/2 inch wrist, but 2 additional links are included, so it may fit up to an approximately 7 inch-sized wrist without much trouble. If requested, I can have my watchmaker add the additional links to the bracelet before shipping. Please be aware before bidding: if you have a larger-sized wrist, do not bid, as this watch may not fit you!Please let me know if you have any questions BEFORE bidding!
