Splendour Four-body, "bassine," entire case hand-engraved in a floral and leaf motive, the front cover centered by a cartouche with coat of arms of the French Earl Gustave Belot, In the lower section various medals, the one in the middle is the Legion of Honor (Légion d'honneur). The backside engraved with his monogram, engraved hinged gold cuvette dated 1875 and hinged glass movement-lid. Case No. 9516. Signed by the swiss watchmaker Fritz Rüsser & Cie. La Chaux-de-Fonds. Dial satiné silver with radial Roman numerals, floral engraving at center and rim, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel spade hands hands, both in great condition. Movement Cal. 20```, nickel-plated, 31 jewels, wolf-tooth winding, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on two gongs activated by a slide on the band. Case numbered and has 19 century Swiss gold marks, the movement is in great condition, just cleaned and serviced by my watchmaker.

The manufacturer Fritz Rüsser & Cie in La Chaux-de-Fonds was founded around 1850 in Switzerland. The company won a silver medal at the world exhibition in 1878. At the Neuchâtel he Chronometer competition in in 1882, the company won the third prize in category B from the "Association Ouvrière" of Le Locle. Gustave Belot was born 7 August 1859 at Strasbourg, the son of a professor in the faculty of letters at Lyons. He entered the École Normale Supérieure in 1878, taking the philosophy agrégation in 1881, and becoming a provincial philosophy instructor at Brest and elsewhere. In 1899 he succeeded Lucien Lévy-Bruhl as professor of philosophy at the lycée Louis-le-Grand. In 1911 he was appointed Inspector of the Paris Academy, and in 1913 he became Inspector-General of Secondary Instruction. He died in Paris on 21 December 1929. Informed by Durkheimian sociology, he was a theorist of collectively-held 'lay morality', which was rational and based upon general interest. Fritz Rüsser & Cie. Nummerierte, signierte, datierte und guillochierte Goldcuvette, Gold-Punzzeichen "18K" und Schweizer Gold Punzen, „Im Andenken an Eduard Rüsser 1875. Seitliche Schieber für Repetitionsauslösung, Zusätzlich Scharnierte Werksverglasung unter der cuvette. Das Gehäuse gehört zu den besten und schönsten die ich gesehen habe, wunderschön der meisterhaften Goldarbeiten und Gravuren. Diese kunstvolle Art von Gehäuse wurde gewöhnlich für den südamerikanischen Markt produziert. Guillochiertes Ziffernblatt aus Silber mit Gold Verzierungen, radiale römische Stunden, kleine dezentrale Sekunde, originale Gebläute Stahl-birnen-zeiger. Das Ziffernblatt uns die Zeiger sind sehr schön erhalten. Vernickeltes Brückenwerk, fein geschliffene spiegelpolierte und anglierte Stahlteile, 2 Hämmer, 2 Tonfedern, Goldräderwerk, wolfsverzahnte Aufzugsräder, Goldschrauben-Kompensations-Unruh, Ausgleichsanker. Das Werk befindet sich in schönem Zustand, Frisch vom Uhrmacher gereinigt und revidiert.Diameter 53mm, ohne schieber, Gewicht 150g.
