Vintage 1960's Wittnauer Chronograph Stainless Steel Wrist Watch This This is a vintage 1960's Wittnauer Manual Wind Chronograph Ref. 3256One of the best Chronograph models from the 1950's and 60’s.This is a two register chronograph, very clean original dial with intact lume plots,multi-color measurement scales. Original hands have patina matching the lume plots,case is very sharp, small seconds at 9:00 position, minute register at 3:00. It has round chronograph push buttons and a push/pull winding crown. The 35mm diameter solid three-body case, down-turned lapidated lugs, stepped angled bezel are polished/brushed.The original dial is matte silver with applied Arabic numerals at 6:00 and 12:00 positions, applied dart hour indices with still luminous dots around a minute/one-fifth second scale.It has the original dauphine steel hands with luminous inserts and a center sweep chronograph seconds hand. There is a red outer Telemeter scale to 10 miles and around the perimeter is a blue tachymeter graduated to 1000 UPH. There are two subsidiary dials, including a running seconds register at the 9:00 positions, a 30-minute totalizer at 3:00. Case, dial and movement are all signed.This Wittnauer manual wind chronograph ref. 3256 has a mechanical manual winding 14W (Venus caliber 188) movement.It's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber device and a straight-line lever escapement. Movement is very clean and the chronograph function is working as it should. *The Venus caliber 188 housed many great watches from the same era including Breitling.This watch comes with a brand new mesh bracelet.
