Varix appears to be a brand name associated with the 'Robot Watch Company' who apparently imported watches into the US in the late 20's when that was the beginning of small solidly built steel steel watches. The cases that became the Rolex Bubble Back and the early auto movement watches with the lugs that were made of folded steel like the Czech Longines of the early 30's.This Varix model is a much later two register 30 minute manual chronograph with a rolled gold plated case but it has an 18kg solid gold hallmarked caseback... lovely dressy dial and gold dauphine hands and that lovely vintage domes acrylic crystal. I have a few of these gold 60's dress chronographs because they look lovely on the wrist and are fairly unappreciated. Remember now, 15 years ago when i was offering early Heuer and Glycine people said "pah who wants those ?" er well I think you'll find everyone likes vintage now and these watches are made with the same quality as any other stainless watch and get a lot of attention. The movement is a Landeron 48 'start with top button, stop and re set with bottom'. The case is thin 18 kt gold stamped on back and side typical of post war Swiss watches, this case appears to have been lined with a base metal ring, sort of a case within a case.... signed 'metal'...
Sold by ATG Vintage Watches in the UK selling serviced vintage pieces since 2002.The watch has been serviced and carries a 3 month mechanical warranty.
Due to their age and the original use of these watches there are minor marks to be found on the cases
which add to their vintage look without detracting from the quality, view the pictures for clarification.
ATG Vintage Watches give no waterproof guarantee or even splash proof, these watches are from a time before any idea of a fully waterproof watch.
