D72 Vintage Cortébert Annus Sanctus reference 9201. this very rare wristwatch has  Cortébert caliber 689.  The diameter of the all stainless steel case is 37,8mm not including the crown. Full length is 43,7mm. It is  16mm wide between the lugs.   Abraham-Louis Juillard founded the firm in Switzerland, in 1790, although the name as such only appeared in 1855. Cortebert disappeared with the quartz crisis of the early seventies, Cortébert was in fact the seventh oldest brand of watches. Its reputation was excellent and they even manufactured their own calibers, one of them quite unique, as it provided 24 hours indication in a moon phase watch. They have supplied Rolex with movements in the past, namely caliber 616 for the original vintage Panerai supplied to the Italian Navy. Specifics of this model: 1 - Very rare commemorative model, with historic significance. 2 - Unusual case design, with the inscriptions "Roma" and "MCML" Latin numerals for 1950. 3 - Dial that has the letters of the words Annus Sanctus as hour indications. 4 - Inner cover of the movement, I suppose this was to achieve increased anti magnetic protection, in a similar way of the Omega Speeedmaster. 5 - A genuine Cortebert movement, designed and built in house by Cortebert. The reference number in the back:  9201 serial number in the back: 2305245 cosmetics dial: The original dial has aged in a beautiful way, with some nice patina - see the pictures and make your own opinion hands:  the gold colored hands are in very good condition, they have only small signs of age - see the pictures and make your own opinion case: It shows only some small signs of wear - see the pictures and make your own opinion   Movement: finish of the movement is OK. I would say very good/excellent - see the pictures and make your own opinion The crystal: is Plexiglas / plastic and has only small signs of use. Inside the watch:  Swiss made 15 jewels Cortébert caliber 689. This was designed and built by Cortebert in house, not a movement bought from a third party. other: The watch is signed Cortébert: in the dial and in the mechanism. Service history: 1 - It was subject to a CLA job by a trusted watchmaker in September of 2016. For those of you who might not know what this means, it involves the disassembling of the watch mechanism and having it cleaned in a specific machine with special liquids to remove dry oil. Afterwards the movement is lubricated with the proper oils and adjusted. In practice it means that you can use the watch without fear that the lack of lubrication wears the movement pieces. 2 - the crystal has been polished to remove some light scratches. Working condition: Starts immediately when wound. Winds smoothly, runs very strong. Time setting is smooth. To get you a clearer picture of how the watch will behave, I do the following home testing: I manually wind the watch, even if the watch has automatic wind, and test it against a watch that I know is correct. For this I purpose I use a web page that provides the exact time. I check the deviation after 12h and 24 hours. The result after 12h for this watch:    +02 seconds. After 24h for this watch:   -02 seconds 1 - These home tests are not a warranty of repeatability or accuracy. 2 - Actually wearing the watch in the pulse will get you different results for sure. 3 - No matter how good the test results may look, the watch is sold as is, without any sort of warranty. Please note that any acrylic or metallic display that appears in the pictures is not included in the sale!   Buy it now or make your offer early and with confidence!
