Description Brand: Paul Raynard Style: Diver Gender: Men's Serial Number: 624001 Features: Chronograph, Mineral Crystal, Rotating Bezel, Screwdown Crown, Swiss Made, Swiss Movement Year of Manufacture: 1960-1969 Movement: Mechanical: Hand-winding Country/Region of Manufacture: Switzerland Display: Analog Age: Vintage 60's Case Material: Stainless Steel Water Resistance Rating: 200 m (20 ATM) Face Color: Black Case Finish: Matte/Brushed Case Size: 42mm Number of Jewels: 17 Jewels Lug Width: 20.5mm Water Resistance: 200 Metres / 20 ATM
This 1960's Paul Raynard two register divers chronograph is built like a tank and is an example of a watch that, in my humble opinion, looks so much better in person than in pictures. The matte reverse panda "SWISS" signed dial with white subdials is in lovely but not perfect condition. The lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and matches perfectly, no longer glows after being exposed to bright light and has aged to a warm buttermilk hue. The black bezel, which smoothly rotates bidirectionally, has faded gently and gracefully. The heavy duty all stainless steel case is in wonderful condition, free of any visibly significant dents or dings. The case appears to have retained its original beveled edges and brushed satin finish to the tops of the lugs and sides of the mid-case. The outer edge of the case back is engraved "TESTED TO 20 ATM 624001 WATERPROOF SWISS MADE INCABLOC STAINLESS STEEL" with a diver engraved in the center. The crystal shows scratching. Please note that some dust/debris has gotten between the crystal and crystal ring and settled on the underbelly of the crystal and on the dial. In person this dust/debris is not nearly as prominent as shown in the high magnification pictures. A watchmaker can quickly and easily remove this dust/debris.The 17 jewels Landeron 149 manual wind movement is in mint condition, keeps near perfect time and all chronograph functions work perfectly as they should with no gumminess to the pushers. This watch runs as beautifully as any chronograph I've had. The top pusher starts and stops the sweep seconds hand and the bottom pusher resets the sweep seconds and minute subdial (right subdial) precisely back to 0. After recently winding the sharply threaded screwdown crown 31 full revolutions the movement had a healthy power reserve of approximately 39 hours. The crown winds buttery smooth. Although this watch currently keeps near perfect time and all chronograph functions work as they should, considering that this watch is more than 40 years old with an unknown service history (there appears to be one watchmaker service marking on the inside of the case back but it's difficult to read), a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 42 mm excluding the crown, approximately 45.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 11.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 14 mm. Although this watch is keeping near perfect time and all chronograph functions work as they should, given its vintage nature and unknown service history, there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. A full overhaul is recommended to keep this watch running strong. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided. Thanks for looking!
