Doxa S.A. was founded in 1889 by Georges Ducommun as a maker of dress watches and other timepieces. In the late 1960s, Doxa decided to dedicate resources to produce a timepiece to be used exclusively for diving. Doxa also consulted with various navy dive teams and divers including Jacques Cousteau who was then chairman of "U.S. Divers," Doxa was an innovator in producing timepieces that were quickly adopted by divers both commercial and military diving applications.Jacques Cousteau was so impressed by the Doxa Sub300T that the Sub300t was purchased in quantity by U.S. Divers, who resold the watch in the United States and co-branded the dial of the Sub300T with the U.S. Divers logo.
The Doxa company over the years went through many acquisitions and changed ownership but in 1978 DOXA along with ERNEST BOREL and AUREOLE was acquired by the Aubry Freres Company, and during the early 1980’s they produced some radically different designs in addition to the classic tonneau divers. Although the classic orange dial SUB 300T was dropped from production in the mid-1970s, Doxa did not stop making dive watches for at least another 10 years. Most vintage Doxas are pretty rare, but the later ones which also have the higher depth ratings are especially hard to find like the Doxa 600T SearamblerThis specific DOXA Sub 600T is in NOS condition. The watch is absolutely flawless in every which way even to the point of having the blue factory case protectant still on the case back. The watch is in 100% unpolished condition and the bracelet shows zero wear. The dial and hands like the case are also in flawless factory new old stock condition showing zero lume degradation.
