MASSIVE 14KT Solid Gold, 129 grams, Size 16s Elgin, Runs Great!. This stem wind and set 1911 Elgin size 16s watch is in excellent condition and it kept nearly perfect time and was less than a 1 minute off of the correct time in the 12 hours it was observed. The heavy case alone weighs 76 grams without the movement! The watch measures 52mm and weighs 129.5 grams in total. This 14KT watch also has a solid 14KT gold dust cover as well. The dial and crystal are near mint. The front cover opens slightly past 90 degrees (photo #9), but the rear covers open just to 90 degrees. The outside covers are in worn, but excellent condition with only a few small dimples on the front cover, dust cover (dust cover has a few scuffs as well) and side of the watch. The covers all snap closed as they should. Known flaws: 1) The mentioned dimples and wear. 2) When winding, a gentle downward pressure needs to be applied and then wound in a clockwise direction only. If you use the back and forth ratchet function, it tends to "skip". It does wind fully and smoothly when done as described and then keeps nearly perfect time for an over 100 year old watch. 3) The bow is slightly out of round and is gold plated.
