DESCRIPTION: In Good Running Order!! Keeps approx 1-2 minutes over 24 hours and is in excellent condition for its age, as seen in the pictures. This is an early Elgin in original condition. It is one of the first 150,000 of the production line which might seem like a high number but Elgin were the largest producer of movements in America and produced a total of 55 million watches. When Eglin was founded in 1864 it was called National Watch Co (as on the dial) and kept that name until 1874 when they changed it to Elgin National Watch Co. It has the original solid 18ct gold full hunter case stamped "18". The case has a milled band, engine turning, engraved floral and scroll decoration and a vacant cartouche to the front. The dial is white enamel porcelain with roman numerals, a sunken seconds dial at 6 o'clock, blue spade hands, and is signed "National Watch Co". It has a clean glass crystal to protect the dial. The movement is an American key wind, 18 size, 7 jewel, gilt full plate movement with a lever escapement and ornately engraved balance cock. The movement is signed "Chas Fargo" which is the grade name of the movement. It is also signed "Elgin" on the barrel bridge and is numbered "148651" which dates it to around 1871. The other marking on the movement is "Patent Pinion". Comes with a key!! Diameter: 52mm Total Weight: 108.5g
