I am thinning out my pocket watch collection and this is my pride and joy! I honestly don't know much about this watch, but I will do my best to describe it. I can't find any info on the watch manufacturer of Mann & Son, Norwich. Other than its British sterling markings making it from the 1790's, I can only guess it belonged to a (wealthy) British sailor (due to the parrot and the love letter). It is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. I am sure you fall in love with is as I did.It is a solid sterling silver pair case with a bulls eye glass lens. The movement is hand engraved brass using a fusee chain movement and is in PERFECT working order. The enamel dial is perfect, no chips, cracks or crazing. The hands appear to be gold, but could possibly be brass (but they do not resemble the color brass inner workings). The pictures do not do this watch justice. The thing(s) that make this watch so special to me were the discoveries I made after purchasing it. There is a beautiful watch paper within the inner case marked "Rogers Watch and Clock Maker, Dudley" that has a timely poem (excuse the pun), but under that I found a poem hand written to the owner of the watch presumably by his wife/lover. AND under that is a stitch work pad (to keep the watch from rattling in its pair case) of a beautiful parrot! Between the stunning hand engraving on the movement and the other little surprises, you will probably just want to display this watch open. Now for the real deal of the day! I am including a second sterling plate key wind pocket watch (the key also fits the above watch). See the photos for the second watch. It is another British watch, enamel dial, nice dog/hunting scene engraved on the back of the case. Who knows, it may be worth a million bucks, but I can't find any info on it, so take a look at the photos. The real gem is the first watch described. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. The photos I have included are of the actual watch you are bidding on and accurately represent the watch and its quality/condition. With that said, I am not accepting returns for this purchase. Also, as with all my auctions, I do not accept bids from eBay members who do not have at least 100 transactions OR have ANY negative feedback. You can see from my eBay Seller feedback that I am reputable and trustworthy, and I do not plan to lose my 100% perfect feedback by dealing with frauds, scoundrels, or scallywags.
Good luck and happy bidding.
