c. 1960s VINTAGE WAKMANN TRIPLE DATE CALENDAR CHRONOGRAPH PANDA DIAL WATCH Style/Serial # 72.1309.70 This Wakmann 17 jewel, three register / triple date, chronograph, mechanical watch has a brand new band and crystal installed, with all other original parts. The jeweler replaced the crystal with a custom-made one that is literally identical to the original crystal. While making the switch, the jeweler also checked the watch functions and confirmed that it is keeping time beautifully! The only noted issue with functionality is the buttons used to change the time and date are very difficult to use…I was trying to set the date just now and I almost lost a finger between Wednesday and Thursday. The stop watch and all other features work as they should. This is a great watch with history, stylish good looks, and a luxury-quality movement made to be enjoyed for generations (without cashing in your 401k to buy it!)History of the Wakmann brand: Charles Giganet owned Wakmann, a company who started in the watch world by importing many fine Swiss watches into the US. The best known association with Wakmann is Breitling, and often, the names Breitling and Wakmann show on the same dial. Parallel to the import business, after WWII, Giganet started his own line of Wakmann watches which utilize the same top end movements found in many great brands. Markings/Manufacturer:

This item has a brand new custom-made crystal, so there are no scratches. It was donated without a band, so we added a vintage black and silver Speidel stretch band, that was sealed in original packaging before we attached it to this watch. The rest of the parts are original, so there are some surface scratches and scuffs on the metal parts as will as light dirt/residue in the nooks and crannies. The watch was inspected by the horologist who replaced the crystal. He informed us that all is working as it should except that the buttons to change the day and month are stuck/sticky and very difficult (but not impossible) to use. This is a used vintage item, so returns will not be considered. Please carefully view photos, use zoom, and if needed request additional photos/info before placing bids.
