A rare solid 18k gold Turkish market 18th century highly engraved verge chain driven fusee pair-case pocket watch made by William Tooting of London and comes with two rare early 19th centuryTurkish watch-papers and a polychrome dial with a mosque to the centre. The watch is very substantial, and in a 3 oz solid gold cases, so requires a secure pocket! This fine paircase verge fusee watch just cleaned and overhauled by my watch-maker and keeping good verge time. THE DIAL: 100% mint, the restored polychrome enamel dial with fine Turkish numerals, and a separate minute track to outside of dial with no chips or hairlines. With blued steel beetle and poker hands. The bulls-eye glass in very fine condition, with the odd tiny scratch. Diameter is 42 mm. The dial centre with a gilt framed view of a Mosque, with cresent moon shape motif to the top of the spire. THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with richly gilded full plate in wonderful condition. The well engraved and carved rococo style balance cock and foot in superb condition with foliage. The balance cock with a distinctive theme as shown. The back plate with further decoration and a Bosley time regulator plate. The watch is keywind, and movement size is 43 mm diameter. The movement with round ballustar pillars and numbered 1945 and signed by the maker, William Tooting of London. Pierced gilded fusee stop work with iron hinge. The watch with fusee chain on tight to barrel and fusee cone and a good free swinging balance and the watch runs the full length of the fusee chain, keeping good verge time. The watch comes with a winding key for hands set and winding. The watch comes with period watch keys and the watch runs the full length of the fusee chain. The watch is much brighter and crisp than in these dark photos, which are limited by my camera and lighting equiment. The watch is in very good working order for its age. THE CASE: 100% mint, the solid 18k gold outer case measures an impressive 59 mm outside diameter. The hinged cover closing tightly, and all in fine order. The watch weighs a very substantial 174 grams in total. The five knuckle hinge in good order. The inner case measures 48 mm. The cases with matching London hall-marks, case maker marks and gold marks. The case maker mark of "IR". The pendant and very well made D-bow, in superb condition. The case with no pin-holes or stretch marks, to outer case. The outer case with a fully functioning spring clip and button. THE WATCH PAPERS: the watch also comes with two 19th century Turkish watch labels in red and and black ink. This is a high quality late 18th century Turkish enamel dialed pair-case, a work of art in its own right in crisp condition and of jewel like quality. This watch has clearly had a sheltered life and was most likely kept just for "Sunday Best", hence its near mint and immaculate condition. The pictures show minor reflections and various dark marks, these are an artefact from the lighting and are not present in the watch case.
