Snap front hinged cover has black enamelled roman hour markers and central 17mm round opening for viewing the hands without opening the front cover. Hinged snap on back cover has dedication in German which translates to "A memento of my old father. B.-Baden 29.Nov. 1928" and is hallmarked "18K". Inner hinged movement cover is marked "J. Deleyderriere Geneve Demi Chronometre No. 949". Case tests as 18k solid gold and weighs 56 grams without the movement. Subtracting the crystal and the case springs gives a melt value of about $1,450 in gold alone.

Movement: Antique Swiss chronometer grade 16 or 17 jewel movement.
Movmt Type: gilded Swiss mechanical chronometer movement is pendant wind or key wind. Setting of the hands is accomplished by either key from the back or via a push lever mechanism from the front (under front cover). By pushing the setting lever in, the lever which is spring loaded will lock into position to permit the setting of the watch by winding the crown (see last ebay photo above to view the lever in position). To unlock from the setting position simply depress the crown which will push down the front cover unlock spring causing the latch to push down a small button which frees the setting lever to return to its original out position which permits winding the mainspring by winding the crown (see 2nd to last ebay photo above to view the lever out position).
Movmt Condition: very good, winds sets, keeps time to within 1 minute per day in both the face up position and the vest pocket position (pendant up position).

The movement design and execution is similar to numerous 19th century Vacheron examples. I also believe that the movement was originally pin set but was factory updated in the 19th century to a push lever system.
