This watch commemorates service in the Spanish American War which was fought in 1898, so was probably manufactured by Bailey, Banks & Biddle and presented around 1899. The dedication inside the back cover reads: Robert Arthur Elwood; Rest Haven; Absecon, New Jersey; 9th National Encampment; United Spanish War Veteran. As a side note, Reverend Elwood was a chaplain during the war, and also founded the Boardwalk National Presbyterian Church in Atlantic City. Also engraved inside on the workings is: Seventeen 17 Jewels; Gruen Watch Co.; Verithin; Temperatures; 141429; D & S.  The 14K marking is found in several places. The watch measures approx. 1 3/4" in diameter; with the pendant loop, the height measures approx. 2 3/8".  I believe the case is original. Please let me know if there are any questions.
