Description
Beautiful antique pocket watch made about 1760. 55 mm diameter silver case. 80 mm high with pipe and bow. 25 mm thick. French Verge Fusee Poly Enameled Back and Dial. Polychrome portrait of a woman sitting on a rock holding a floral wreath tending sheep and a Shepherd's crook at her feet. Back appears to be fired porcelain on copper curved plaque attached to the silver case back and has a fired clear topcoat. The back is in museum mint condition. Polychrome or poly enameled portrait of a woman on the dial on a ladder reaching to rock doves in a nest. Key wind through the dial and key set at center. As is common on a key-wind-through-the-dial, the key winding chips the porcelain necessitating the dial repair that was made. Excellent watch considering it is over 250 years old. Silver Case marked inside: ART 4574 - 1629. Crystal is custom made from two plastic crystals. Case snaps shut tight. Watch takes a number 5 key and can be provided for an extra fee. High grade movement runs right away as soon as winding is started. Runs fast but not bad for over 250 years. Movement has four square pillars with large bases, silver regulator dial, original brass hands and hand pierced balance cock.
Buyer to pay $8.50 shipping, lower 48 only. Priority expedited shipping. Combined shipping. If you use global shipping you must pay any additional costs. Insurance is included in handling charge.
