B96 Vulcain is a Swiss brand of watches founded in 1858 in Switzerland. This independent firm, with its own factory, is worldwide famous by its cricket line of alarm wristwatches. http://www.vulcain-watches.ch/en/history/history/index.html The diameter of the barrel shaped stainless steel case and stainless steel back is 38mm not including the crown. Full length is 48mm. It is 20mm wide between the lugs. Specifics of this model: This historical important Vulcain diver's chronograph is in great condition considering its age and the usual tough conditions of use. This watch is very sought after by collectors and normally doesn´t appear on the market in this condition. Who ever had the possibility to add this to his collection, will never release it again. Specifics of this model: 2 - Diver's technical watch, belonging to the early pioneering diving chronographs. 3 - Metallic bi-directional diver's bezel. 4 - The supreme Valjoux 23 movement is inside this watch. This is a charecteristic of the first version and a top class performer that was used by Rolex and Patek in some of its chronographs. The Aquastar Deepstar also used the Valjoux 23 in its first execution. The serial/ reference number in the back: 3028 cosmetics dial: The original Panda black dial only shows very small signs of age, I would say it is in excellent condition - see the pictures and make your own opinion. hands: The hands are in very good - excellent condition - see the pictures and make your own opinion. case: All stainless steel case. It looks in very good/excellent condition. What seems an impact mark in the upper left lug is in fact a stamp, a little animal, imposed by Portuguese officials at the time. - see the pictures and make your own opinion. Movement: very nice pristine condition - see the pictures and make your own opinion. The crystal: is plastic / Plexiglas. It has no ugly scratches, no cracking and no glazing - see the pictures and make your own opinion. The brand new bracelet is made of nylon, but it is not from Vulcain. Inside the watch: Swiss made, high quality 17 jewels, manual wind, 17 jewels legendary Valjoux 23 movement. Service history: 1 - Not recently serviced 2 - The crystal was replaced. 3 - The hands are original but have been professionally re-painted. At some point in time the previous owner ordered this, together with a replacement of the crystal 4 - The case has been professionally polished, but only in its sides, maintaining its original finished. All the rest is in remarkably very good condition and unpolished. If it is not stated that the watch has been serviced recently you would better consider a revision by an expert watchmaker, no matter how good the test results may look. Mechanical watches, like a car, need periodic maintenance. Watch working condition: 1 - Winding is smooth. 2 - Starts upon winding, there is no need to shake it. 3 - Runs strong. 4 - Time setting is smooth 5 - All the chronograph functions, start, stop and reset work as they should.
