Up for sale is this beautiful platinum and diamond pocket watch with matching platinum fob locket (it would have been attached to the watch via a watch chain) in the locket are to miniature portraits hand painted on ivory panel. This extraordinary time piece and locket are both monogrammed "HCL" with diamonds and the watches original owner was silent film mega star Harold Clayton Lloyd (most famous for his movie "Safety Last" with scenes of him hanging from the hands of a giant clock on top of a high rise building). Inside the locket the two portraits are of Mr. Lloyd's wife, Mildred Davis and their first born child, Gloria. Gloria was born in 1923 and she looks to be a couple years old in the painting which would date the watch to about 1925. After Mr. Lloyd past the watch and locket went to his adopted daughter, Peggy Lloyd and she past it onto the person I got it from. The watch has been professionally serviced and works great. The Swiss made movement is signed Merimont Watch Co. 18 jewels and 8 Adj. The movement is a very high grade movement resembling a Vacheron Constantine movement...so similar some watch experts believe Merimont Watch Co. was made by Vacheron. The watch will come with a letter of provenance and is guaranteed authentic. Harold Lloyd is one of the three iconic silent era comedians along with Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton making this piece quit a historically significant item.
