Description

Meteorite Watch signed Kuntz - Besancon   "4.56 billion years to your wrist"         The meteorite dial : This watch offer a window on the Universe, through the large 36mm dial made in a nickel-iron meteorite, and showing natural structures, unique to this kind of meteorites, called "Widmanstätten pattern". These meteorites are thought to be the fragments of the cores of larger ancient asteroids (have been linked to M-type asteroids because both have similar spectral characteristics in the visible and near-infrared) that have been shattered by impacts. The crystalline patterns become visible when the meteorite is cut, polished, and acid etched, because taenite is more resistant to the acid. The dial have been plated with a platinum family metal, the rhodium, to become unalterable. By the way, the iron found in iron meteorites was one of the earliest sources of usable iron available to humans, before the development of smelting that signaled the beginning of the iron age (some tools and jewels made in meteoritic iron have been found in some pharaonic tombs of bronze age).   The watch : This watch was built from a high quality automatic Swiss Made caliber, the most famous ETA 2824-2 (25 jewels). The mainspring is wound automatically as a result of natural motion of the wearer's arm, to provide energy to run the watch, making manual winding unnecessary. This product of the swiss watch industry is a mechanical movement with automatical winding, ball-bearing rotor, bi-directional winding, power reserve: 38-40 hours, hacking seconds. This movement is one of the best known and most widely used mechanical movements at all. It is considered to be accurate, robust and reliable. From this automatic movement, the watch have been assembled and tested in Besancon, a "Town of Art and History" situated close to the fench/switzerland border, with a two centuries old history of watch industry (the swiss connection), and now also known for microtechnology.   Some technical data :   Movement manufacturer : ETA Caliber : 2824-2 Power reserve : 38-40 hours Functions : Hours, minutes, seconds, date Watch Manufacturer : Kuntz - Besancon Dial : 36mm / Iron meteorite / Rhodium plated Watch : 42mm without crown Thickness : Maximum thickness 11.8mm Case / Glasses : Stainless steel / Sapphire glass on the top / Glass on the back Box : Yes, with name and logo of the mark Strap : Leather, 23cm, from Italy Certificats : Two hand signed certificates, one for the meteorite, and a numbered for the watch     Check out my !
