RARE 1830s ROBERT ROSKELL SILVER HUNTER CASE POCKET WATCH w/HAND CARVED/PIERCED MOVEMENTFor sale is rare, one of a kind, Robert Roskell watch with a hand carved/pierced movement with animal scene. Circa 1830s best guess. You won't find another one like it, that's certain. It's in good working order, running strong and keeping good time. Case is silver, but not sure of the actual content since it is not marked.  The movement is custom hand carved and shows a scene of an animal with a tree in the background.  At first I thought it was a deer, but the animal has curved horns so I believe it may be a gazelle.  The tree also looks like one you would see in Africa.  The front cover of the watch shows a running animal, perhaps a lion or a dog (although a lion makes more sense if the movement scene is supposed to be a gazelle).  The back cover shows a scene of a village or small city.  The case has wear and some dings, and some small dents on the back cover near the hinge (see photo).  The dial is marked Improved Skelet Lever, Robert Roskell, London.  The dust cover is marked Robert Roskell, London, Hands (below the hole to adjust the hands), Improved Skelet Level, Patent, Full Jeweled.  Dial in decent condition with what looks to be a scratch between 2 and 3 o'clock, and some chips on the edge between 4 and 5 that are hard to see since they are mostly covered by the bezel.  The watch measures 57 mm in diameter, and 82 mm long include the pendant bow.  The crystal is glass and in nice shape.  The watch is being sold as I found it.  Not polished, cleaned, oiled, adjusted, wiped off, or anything.  The antique key shown in the photo is included.  It is keywind and key set from the back.  The case spring is good and the front cover pops all the way open when you pressed the button.  Quite simply...a one of a kind watch.  GENERAL AUCTION TERMSPlease accept our apologies for the extensive term and conditions for our auction.
