Description

Up for sale is a set of Westclox Vintage chronographs. Both watches are from the 1960-1970s. Both use the Valjoux 7733 MovementI am selling the two watches as a lot because these watches are extremely undervalued, and should belong in a collection with someone who is willing to discover the stories behind these two beautiful chronographs. Westclox as a company has a reputation for making afford/cheap hand wound table desk clocks, but there is little mention of their military connection with the United states. They have produced mil spec watches for troops being deployed during the Vietnam War. There are a lot of fake examples, but rare authentic milspec examples do go up for sale online from time to timeModel No. 38176 is NOS, the cushion case can be compared to a lot of cushion cases watches in racing inspired chronographs like the HEUER Autavia, Seiko POGUE, Longines Heritage 1973, and even Autodromo watches. The watch comes with the original box and user's pamphlet. The watch has never been worn, and still has a sticker on the caseback. The case is flawless, and the crystal allows the beautiful silver white dial to show it's blue accents. Watches currently being released go for 3-4 times the pricepoint. The red chronograph seconds hand is crisp in color similar to the Autavia Skipper/Autavia red hands. Model No. 38178 has a nice shiny black tachymetre scale, and shows a waterproof rating of up to 600 ft.However, the seals will need replacement, and water tested before actually using the watch in water. These watches both use the Valjoux 7733 movement which are extremely characteristics of chronographs from this era. The case is 38-39 mm which is perfect if you have small wrists. The watch has been used but still keeps time. The chronograph resets slight left of zero, but the watch keeps good time. Case condition shows signs of wear. This model resembles many of the Aviator Diver watches from the 1960's to 1970's. Some comparisons are brands like Nivada Both watches would be extremely versatile in your collection. You can purchase vintage style straps from WornandWound, Analogshift, or Crown&Buckle which would go well with the watch. These watches are not well known, and this is your chance to buy them at a decent price. Watches like the Hamilton chronographs are currently very highly priced, which use the same movement and are from the same era. Watches are described as accurately as possible. Both are in working condition during the moment of shipping. I will not accept returns. If you have any questions feel free to message me. I will be willing to ship to US & Canada.
