DescriptionRemarkable Antique Minute Repeater pocket watch dated to circa 1900'. Signed by Mappin & Webb this outstanding watch features a heavy hunter case with a total gold content of 50 grams and a factory original enamel dial in immaculate condition. Definitely a rare find, especially considering the watch is more than 110 years old. Original complicated movement working wonderfully, featuring the most complicated of the repeater mechanisms, the Minute Repeater.
CASE: Heavy full hunter case in 18k Solid Rose Gold, Swiss Made. Remarkable condition with minor evidence of age, no major imperfections or repairs. Thick covers, the front one engraved with the image of a lion and the Latin phrase "Deo, non fortuna" meaning from God, not from mere luck, and the back engraved with a large interlocked monogram. Round crown with round-shaped bow featuring a gold hallmark on the neck. It includes a slide-button at 6 o'clock to trigger the bell mechanism and a pin-set button at 4 o'clock. Measures 52.5 mm (2") in diameter and is 16 mm (0.63") thick. Solid gold dustcover with a personal inscription that reads "Presented to E. Ribton Cooke by staff of the British Bank, Rio de Janeiro, Dec. 1906". Stamped inside all covers with an 18C seal, 0.755 seal, two Swiss hallmarks and reference number 12439. The complete watch weighs 108.5 grams / 3.83 oz. and contains 50 grams of solid gold alone
DIAL: Original antique white enamel dial in pristine condition, with no visible imperfections of any kind. It features blued steel hands with black Roman numerals. Small sunken seconds subdial at 6 o'clock and outer minute track in black. Signed Mappin & Webb, London, Swiss.
MOVEMENT: Original Swiss made complicated movement with minute repeating mechanism. When activated, the movement will strike the last recorder hour, quarter and minutes. Manual wind, pin-set (located on the rim between 3 and 4 o'clock). In full working condition, keeping good time with all functions working properly.
